Me, fresh out of UW’s MHCI+D program.
About
I studied how people think.
Now I design for them.
Hi, I’m Umi (yu-mi), a product designer in Seattle with a background in psychology and research training in human-computer interaction. After earning my degree at National Taiwan University and working in market research at Ipsos, I moved into design, first as the lead designer of an award-winning AI platform at an NTU lab, then as a master’s student in UW’s MHCI+D program.
I use research to understand what people need and why, then work through the interaction details that make a product feel clear, coherent, and a little warmer than it needs to be.

Fun facts
✦
I speak Mandarin, English, Japanese, and a bit of German, so I can order coffee in all four.

I grew up in rainy Taipei, so Seattle’s famous drizzle barely bothers me. To me, it’s basically California.
✦
I’m still in touch with almost every friend I’ve made since I was three.
Off the clock
✦
Café-hopping across Seattle. Current favorite: Story Coffee
✦
Eating my way through every spot saved on my Google Maps
